Producer Kazumasa Habu also revealed some new information about the game. The setting for Digimon Survive is actually a different world from what fans have seen before in the Digimon franchise. Habu revealed that the world was heavily inspired by Japanese mythology.

Additionally, due to a conversation with the director of Digimon Adventure, an idea brought up and featured in Digimon Survive is how Digimon have actually existed since ancient times and were thought of as spirits. In this mythology, humans rarely interacted with Digimon before society was introduced to digital technology.

One other way that Digimon Survive was inspired by Digimon Adventure was how Digimon respond to their human partner’s emotional state. Player choices will affect how Digimon respond as well as their digivolutions, so players will experience the consequences of the actions they take.

The opening movie for the game was also revealed to those attending the panel, but it has not yet been released anywhere online.

Earlier this year, new details about the game were released in a developer diary. Including other details, the developer diary shared what players can expect from the game’s combat.

Digimon Survive will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch some time in 2020.
